How do I set up a Porting - Transferring Phone Numbers to sipgate?

You can transfer your existing UK geographic phone numbers (01- or 02-) to sipgate through porting. However, non-geographic numbers (e.g., 03xx, 08xx) and mobile numbers (07xx) cannot be ported to sipgate.

Important points

  • Your number must remain active with your current provider until the port is complete.
  • Porting your number may automatically cancel your existing service. Use our porting form to initiate the process without canceling your contract yourself.

Submitting a porting request

  • Complete your sipgate account setup, including activating your Start Code.

  • Email porting@sipgate.co.uk with

      • The full number you wish to port
      • Your current service provider
      • Your sipgate account number
  • Once sipgate confirms the number can be ported, you’ll receive two application forms to complete and sign.

  • After submitting the forms, sipgate will handle the port application and update you throughout the process.

Important: Ensure all details (e.g., customer number and name) match those on file with your current provider to avoid delays.

Duration of Porting

  • A single-line port takes at least 7 business days.
  • Multi-line ports require at least 10 business days.
sipgate will notify you of the confirmed porting date once your current provider accepts the application.

Canceling a porting request

  • Ports can be canceled if the completion date is at least seven calendar days away.
  • To cancel, email porting@sipgate.co.uk with your sipgate account number and the affected phone number.

If the porting date is less than seven days away, cancellation is no longer possible.

Note: Porting is free of charge. However, sipgate starter accounts do not support number porting.

A single line number port will take at least 7 business days and a multi-line port will take at least 10 business days to complete from the application date.

  • sipgate will submit the application to port your telephone number within 1 working day of receiving the porting application fee and your completed, hand-signed porting application forms.
