# Start Code for sipgate & trunking

Thank you for choosing sipgate as your telephone service provider.

After **finishing the online sign up** successfully we now require you to **confirm your postal address** before we can activate your account's (team or trunking) telephony.

This step in the sipgate and sipgate trunking product **onboarding** process is very important as it's this address that will be provided to the **emergency services** in case of an emergency call being made from your sipgate account.

A **letter of verification** containing a code (the **Start Code**) is sent to the address entered at sign up for a sipgate account as a form of manual address verification. It is also used as a way to avoid the fraudulent use of our services.

The **Start Code** letter is posted on the next working day after signing up. Generally we are seeing **2 to 3 work days** for delivery to addresses in mainland UK. Addresses outside the UK can take considerably longer.

After receiving the letter, please log into your account and enter the Start Code provided within the letter. Upon entry, **your account's telephony will be immediately activated.**

{% hint style="info" %}
**Important:** Please be aware that as long as your postal address is not verified, your account's telephony will not be made active, therefore neither incoming or outgoing calls can be made.
{% endhint %}
