# What is the presence indicator?

The presence indicator shows the current status of your colleagues – for example "available" or "on a call". This way you can see at a glance who is reachable.

#### For sipgate accounts created before 25.08.2025

You can find the presence indicator under **My Telephony**. It shows which users are available. If someone is on a call, the card with the internal extension appears in red.

**Important:** All users must be assigned to an internal extension.

#### For sipgate accounts created from 25.08.2025 onwards

The presence indicator is integrated into the **sipgate app**. You can see the status of your colleagues in several places:

* under **Contacts** in the sidebar in the Team tab and in the respective contact details
* in the channel under the **Availability** tab
* in your personal channel under the **Favorites** tab – here you can create your own availability display with favorited team contacts
* in the **omnibar**, which opens when you click on **Start call** in the sidebar and search for a team contact

**Which statuses are available?**

The presence indicator distinguishes between two types of statuses:

Global status – applies to you as a person, independent of the channel, and is displayed on the avatar:

* **Available** You are ready to answer calls
* **In a call** You are currently on the phone
* **In follow-up** You are in the configured follow-up time
* **Do not disturb** You have set yourself to "Do not disturb" and are not reachable for incoming calls
* **Offline** None of your devices or apps are connected
* **Not available** You are logged out of your personal channel

Channel status – only applies to a specific channel:

* **Logged in** You are logged into the channel and can answer calls there
* **Logged out** You are logged out of the channel

**How is the status displayed?**

The status is represented by a colored indicator on the avatar and a label below the avatar.

When someone is logged out of a channel, the avatar is grayed out and marked as "Logged out".

**What influences the status?**

Your global status is updated automatically:

* You start a call: Status changes to In a call
* You end a call: You can switch to In follow-up
* You log out of all channels: Status becomes Offline
* You log out of your personal channel: Status becomes Not available

You can also change your status manually, for example to Do not disturb when you want to work without interruptions

**The personal channel**

Every user has a personal channel. This is mainly used for internal 1-to-1 telephony. Your availability in this channel is particularly important

* Logged into personal channel + global status Available: You appear as Available (green)
* Logged out of personal channel: You appear as Not available, even if you are logged into other channels

Important: If you are logged out of your personal channel, your colleagues cannot reach you directly via internal telephony. You are then only reachable via channels you are logged in.

**When am I available?**

You are considered Available when all of the following conditions are met:

* You are logged into your personal channel
* Your global status is not In a call, In follow-up, Do not disturb or Offline

**Special case: Available in this channel**

If you are logged into a shared channel but logged out of your personal channel, your colleagues will see "Available in channel" in the respective channel. This means: You can answer calls in this specific channel, but you are not reachable via your personal channel.
