# How can I create system logs in the sipgate app?

If you encounter errors that aren't immediately explainable, we may ask you to send us the log data from your sipgate app. But where can you find the log data? It only takes a few steps.

#### On macOS

* Open the sipgate app.
* In the Apple menu bar, go to **Help → Export Logs**.
* Save the **zip file** and attach it to your email to us.

#### On Windows

* Open the sipgate app.
* In the app, click the three-dot menu "..." and select **Help → Export Logs**.
* Save the **zip file** and attach it to your email to us.

#### On Linux

* Open the sipgate app.
* In the app, go to **Help → Export Logs.**
* Save the zip file and attach it to your email to us. Alternatively, you can enter the following path in your file manager: **\~/.config/sipgate-desktop/logs.**
* Check the **main.log** and **renderer.log** files for errors, or send them directly to support.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://teamhelp.sipgate.co.uk/use-sipgate/sipgate-app/how-can-i-create-system-logs-in-the-sipgate-app.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
