How to use the Webphone?
Please log in to your sipgate account and find the Webphone button in the main menu (lower-left corner). After selection we will automatically connect your selected Telephone and start routing calls through your browser.
I can't find the Webphone button in my account's main menu. What can I do?
For the Webphone to be shown there has to be a regular Phone already set up for your User. Please add a regular Telephone in the Phones section first.
The Webphone will not be displayed to other Administrator Users.
Which Phone Number will be used for incoming/outgoing calls?
Your currently active phone numbers are shown in the Webphone interface. If you have multiple telephone options set up in your sipgate team account, the active phone can be chosen in the Webphone interface.
Make a test call!
You can test the Webphone's call quality with our free test number 10005.
Should you notice any issues with your voice input or output, please perform a check of your computer's sound management options and settings.
Can I use the Event List and my Webphone at the same time?
Yes, no problem. The Webphone automatically opens in a new tab in your browser and can be used alongside the event list.
For a direct call-back from the event list, please select "Call back" on the call event entry:
- In the new menu select your preferred VoIP phone
- Take the call from your Webphone in the other tab
- Await call connection to the other party
- The call is now available in the event list for further handling
Which Audio Codecs are being used?
G.711 (60-100kbit/s), without adjustments for low-bandwidth connections
How do I adjust the call and ringtone volume?
Please use the available sound settings of your operating system. There you can choose the microphone's input volume, as well as output volumes for call audio and the ringtone.
Why are my incoming calls displayed as coming from Unknown (#Number)?
Incoming calls from phone numbers not in your Contacts list will be displayed as Unknown. You can create a new contact directly from the call event in your Event List.
How do I transfer/forward calls?
- The Transfer menu in your Webphone can be used to call an existing Contact or a new number. A click on the Transfer button then starts the call.
- Our sipgate team in-call features are available for forwarding calls from the Webphone.
How do I start a Conference?
Our Three-Way-Conference option is not currently available with the Webphone. We're looking into options.
At this time you will require a regular VoIP telephone or third-party softphone to use this feature.
How do I activate desktop notifications for incoming calls?
Please find the option in the Webphone's left-side menu and activate it under Settings.
Notifications will only be displayed on your primary monitor.
How can I receive the ringing tone on a separate audio device?
Please select Webphone's audio settings and choose your preferred device under Additional device for ringtone
This feature only works for web browsers Chrome / Brave / Opera and is not supported with Safari / FireFox
How can I use the "Click2Dial" option under Settings?
At this time the Click2Dial option is not implemented and cannot be used.
