Update 02/04/2020: BT has reopened their porting department and are working on the backlog of requests they have. We'll continue to update you on your ports from/through BT as they come to us.
---
As of March 26th, 2020, we have received the news that BT have temporarily closed their offshore teams that service their porting department and support their porting system Openreach.
This means that porting numbers directly from BT, or numbers that originated with BT, may not be possible until further notice. Telephone numbers that are not currently with BT but originated with BT are particularly unlikely to go through during this time.
We encourage you to still get in touch with us to see if your telephone number can be ported, but please keep in mind that we will not be submitting porting requests for telephone numbers that we believe are not possible to port at this time. Furthermore, we cannot guarantee our usual porting timeframes of 5-10 business days.
While it seems that this will mainly impact inbound ports, it may also affect porting numbers to BT as well.
We will be providing updates on this situation as we receive them on our twitter account @sipgateUKstatus, though we do not expect this situation to change in the next 4-8 weeks.
