Why does the sipgate app on the web require access to your microphone?

The sipgate app on the web requires access to your microphone to make or receive a call. The first time you launch the app, you'll be asked whether you want to allow access to your microphone. If you accidentally denied access or reset your permissions, you'll find instructions for the most commonly used browsers here on how to subsequently allow access again.

 

Google Chrome

  1. Open the sipgate app on the web in Chrome and log in
  2. Click on the settings icon (or lock icon) on the left side of the browser's address bar
  3. In the "Microphone" section, activate the toggle switch on the right side
  4. In the dialogue that opens, change the setting next to "Microphone" from "Reject" or "Ask" to "Allow"
  5. Reload the page if necessary

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the sipgate app on the web in Firefox and log in
  2. Click on the Settings icon on the left in the address bar
  3. Click on "Temporarily blocked"

  4. Reload the page
  5. After reloading, a banner will appear in the top right corner of the app - click on "Enable"

  6. In the dialogue that appears, select "Allow"

    Note: Activate the "Remember for all microphones" option to apply the setting to all connected microphones.

  7. Reload the page if necessary

Apple Safari

  1. Open the sipgate app on the web in Safari and log in
  2. Click on the website icon on the left side of the address bar
  3. Select "Website Settings..."

  4. In the dialogue that opens, change the setting next to "Microphone" from "Deny" or "Ask" to "Allow"

  5. Reload the page if necessary

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the sipgate app on the web in Edge and log in
  2. Click on the lock icon on the left side of the address bar
  3. In the "Permissions for this site" section, click the setting next to "Microphone" (currently set to "Block")
  4. Set the setting for "Microphone" to "Allow"

  5. Reload the page if necessary

Problems and solutions

If you still experience problems after changing the settings:

  1. Check if your microphone is working: Try testing your microphone in another application.
  2. Check the system settings (for your browser): Sometimes access must also be allowed in your computer's system settings for the browser.
  3. Restart browser: Restart your browser completely and try again.
  4. Select the correct audio device: If multiple microphones are connected, make sure the correct one is selected.
