How do I set the sipgate App CLINQ as default for calls?

When you try to call a phone number in your browser or use Click-to-Dial on iOS or Windows, typically FaceTime or another phone app will open. If you want to make calls with the sipgate app CLINQ instead, you can set it as the default app for calls.

Setting Up for iOS

  • Open FaceTime on your Mac.
  • Then, click on FaceTime in the top menu bar and select Settings
  • Scroll down and under Default for Calls, select sipgate.

Setting Up for Windows

  • Open the Settings.
  • Go to Default Apps and then select Default Apps by Protocol.
  • In the left menu, look for TEL or URL:tel.
  • There, you can set the sipgate app CLINQ as the default app for calls.

Errors and Solutions

To set the sipgate app CLINQ as the default app for TEL (Click2Dial):
Windows 11: Go to Default Apps ➔ Choose Defaults by Link Type [Tel: sipgate App]
Windows 11 22H2: If the sipgate app CLINQ cannot be selected:

  • Exit the sipgate app CLINQ.
  • Delete the folder C:\Users\Benutzer\AppData\Roaming\sipgate-desktop\FirstRun
  • Restart the sipgate app.
  • Then go to Default Apps ➔ Choose Defaults by Link Type ➔ [Tel: sipgate] in the app.
