How to configure the BLF function for Grandstream Phones

We have tested the BLF function with the following Grandstream models:

  • GXP 2110 and GXP 2120
  • GXP 2020
  • GXP 2124

Please note that this feature is only available if you have subscribed to the sipgate business L or XL plan.

Important: The Pickup function (call pickup) via the BLF speed dial key is not available with these models.

To access the Grandstream phone’s configuration interface, first, find the phone's IP address.
For most Grandstream models, the IP address is displayed directly on the screen. If not, press the Menu button, then select Status ➔ Network Status ➔ IP to view the assigned IP address (e.g., 192.168.0.5).

Create User for BLF

Enter the IP address in your browser’s address bar to open the phone’s configuration interface. If you received the GXP 2110/2120 unconfigured, the default password is admin. Go to Settings ➔ Programmable Keys in the menu. Here, enter the following data:

  • Key Mode: Select Busy Lamp Field (BLF)
  • Account: Select your sipgate account (e.g., Account 1)
  • Description: Enter the name of the user
  • Value: Enter the user’s extension (e.g., "42" to monitor the status of extension 42)

Click Save and Apply. Often, the settings will only take effect after a reboot (click Restart in the top right corner).

Display IP Address

Ensure DHCP is enabled on your router. Most routers have DHCP enabled by default. Connect the Grandstream phone to the router via Ethernet, and the phone will receive an IP address. In most cases, the IP address will be displayed on the phone’s screen.

If not, press the Menu button and select Config ➔ Network ➔ IP to view the current IP address. If it shows 0.0.0.0, check step 1 and restart both the router and the phone.

Enter the IP address (e.g., "192.168.1.100") in your browser to access the web configuration menu of the Grandstream phone.

Create User for BLF

Go to Basic Settings in the menu and enter the following data:

  • Key Mode: Select Busy Lamp Field (BLF)
  • Account: Select your sipgate account (e.g., Account 1)
  • Name: Enter the user's name
  • UserID: Enter the user's extension (e.g., "42" to monitor extension 42)

Click Update to save the settings. To enable the Pickup function, go to Account 1 ➔ SIP Settings ➔ Advanced Features and configure the Pickup function as shown in the image.

Click Update again and reboot the phone.
