Setting up Your Emergency Information
You can set up emergency information for each user on your account. Should an emergency call be made and the caller is unable to tell the emergency services their current location, the details listed in the emergency information will be relayed to the emergency service in order to help them find the caller.
999 calls may be made from all sipgate accounts.
Please follow instructions below with information on how to edit your emergency details:
- When logged in as the correct User, click User Settings in the navigation bar
- Click Location
- A pop-up will appear where you can select an emergency location from the team account's existing locations.
Note: It is extremely important to keep these details up to date, as failure to do so could result in the emergency services being sent to the wrong location. We therefore request that all customers review there emergency information frequently.
- Should you make an emergency call from a location other than that in your emergency contact details, the emergency services will only be able to reach you should you be able to state your current location whilst making the emergency call.
- Please make sure that you do not have an Automatic local area code selected. This can hinder the emergency services should they need to make a return call. You can find the Automatic local area code setting under Phones.
Warning: Please DO NOT make a 999 test call as this could hinder the emergency services
Making a 999 test call can be considered by the emergency services as a hoax call for which you may be prosecuted.
Calls to UK 999 Emergency Services ARE supported by sipgate. Any penalties and costs incurred by sipgate due to 999 test and/or hoax calls will be passed on to the customer.
