How can I block the destinations Users can call?

As an administrator, you can block certain call destinations for yourself and your team members. Whether it’s expensive international destinations or specific premium-rate numbers, you have full control over call restrictions.

To manage call barring settings

  1. Go to Account Administration and select Users.
  2. Choose the team member for whom you want to set call restrictions.
  3. Click Permissions on the left-hand side to access call barring options.

Configuring Call Barring

You can toggle different call barring options using the provided switches. Changes may take up to 15 minutes to take effect.

International and Premium-Rate Numbers

Enabling this option prevents users from calling premium-rate numbers (e.g., 01801, 01802, 01803) and all international numbers. Pricing details for outbound calls are available in our rate list.

Important: Some premium-rate numbers (e.g., 0137, 0138, 01212, 01807, 0185, 0181, 0188, 0900, and 118xx) are always blocked from sipgate’s network and do not need to be manually restricted.

Chargeable Destinations

When enabled, users can only make internal calls or calls included in an active flat rate (e.g., Germany-wide flat rate, mobile flat rate).

High-Cost International Numbers

By default, newly created users have high-cost international destinations blocked. If a user attempts to call a blocked destination, they will hear the following message

"Hello, for security reasons, some international destinations are blocked on your sipgate account. You will soon receive a link to lift these restrictions."

Additionally, the administrator will receive an email notification.
The list of blocked destinations is regularly updated, and we do not provide a full list of affected countries. However, destinations typically classified as high-cost do not include EU countries, the USA, or China.

Roaming Outside the EU (Mobile)

Outgoing and incoming calls using a sipgate SIM card outside the EU are blocked due to roaming charges.
By adjusting these settings, administrators can control costs and enhance security for their team’s telephony setup.
