Voicemail: Your Smart Answering Machine

The sipgate voicemail is a free, intelligent answering machine for your sipgate phone line. When you can’t answer a call, the voicemail takes over. You can record a custom greeting or use the standard one. Callers can leave a message during user-set timeframes, which is saved as both an audio and text file and sent via email.

Here’s an overview of the sipgate voicemail features:

  • Takes calls when the phone is offline or unreachable
  • Handles calls during specific times and from specific numbers
  • Records incoming calls for up to two minutes
  • Options for greetings with or without recording
  • Greeting length is up to 180 seconds (Click2Record)
  • Free playback from any sipgate line
  • Remote access from any phone
  • Record personal greetings via phone or MP3 upload
  • Free email notifications with an optional MP3 or text attachment
  • Notifications of missed calls via email, SMS, or fax
  • Set voice messages for users and groups

Custom Greetings

You can choose whether to use the standard greeting for missed calls or set a personalized one. If you opt for a custom greeting, you can record it directly in your account (Click2Record) or upload an MP3. To do this, go to your Voicemail under Telephony.

Group voicemails can only be changed by admins. Navigate to the group voicemail under Voicemails and devices and select the specific Group Voicemail.

You can also set up Voicemail under Telephony then Groups. Here you can adjust your routing diagram to determine when voicemail activates and which greeting is played.

In the Routing settings, you can easily define when the Voicemail should activate and which greeting to play. Just click on Edit Routing, then Add Forwarding, and select Voicemail. For any future adjustments, simply use the gear icon.

Notifications

You can receive notifications of new voicemails via email or SMS and decide whether individuals or entire groups should be notified. Go to Voicemail under Telephony and click on Email Notifications.

For more notification and filter options, click on Notifications in the navigation panel and create a new filter for calls, voicemails, or SMS.

Listening to Voicemails

The sipgate Voicemail allows you to retrieve messages from any phone, even outside your account. You just need a PIN, which you can easily set for one or multiple voicemails.

By clicking on the Voicemail entry in the Event-List, a menu will open with detailed information about your received messages. Here, you can listen to messages, download them, or return calls. You'll also find a transcript of the message and the option to add the caller to your contacts.
