# How can I port my phone number to other providers?

How to port your sipgate phone number to another provider, including steps for fixed-line and mobile number transfers.

You can port your sipgate number to another provider. Your new provider will handle the process and submit the porting request on your behalf.

**Porting Fixed-line Numbers**\
Porting fixed-line numbers is free of charge, regardless of how many numbers you are transferring.

**General Porting Process**

* A correctly submitted porting request will be authorised by sipgate within one working day.
* A single-line port typically takes at least seven working days.
* Multi-line ports may require at least ten working days.
* Your new provider will keep you updated on the porting progress.

**Fees**\
sipgate may charge a fee of £29.00 per number for porting out. However, this fee will be waived if the number has been active on the sipgate network for at least 60 days.

**Account Closure**\
Once the porting process is complete, we will notify you via email. If you wish to close your sipgate account, cancel any active plans first and then request account closure by emailing <team@sipgate.co.uk>.

**Important**\
On your new provider's Letter of Authorisation, make sure to provide your sipgate 999 Emergency Address as the **Site** or **Installation** address. Porting requests with different addresses will be rejected.
